Collaboration of FINMARI with
science and society

Through collaboration and continuous dialogue FINMARI has a broad impact in the scientific community and education, as well as on environmental and fisheries administration and legislation, the public, maritime traffic, safety and security, sustainability policies, biotechnological innovations, business and industry, and the national and international society at large.

FINMARI partners play an active role in expert groups led by the ministries (including the government of Åland, the autonomous region of Finland) and international expert groups (e.g. HELCOM, ICES, EuroGOOS, EEA), which significantly facilitates the use of FINMARI outcomes in policy making.

The distributed nature of FINMARI further facilitates direct interaction with local and regional authorities in different parts of Finland, including NGOs, which ensures societal impact.
A recent  inventory shows that FINMARI has currently 39 strategic partners and 73 partners of steady collaboration. Of these, 20 are related to infrastructure development/operation or technology development, 65 to research and scientific collaboration, and 11 to research services or marine monitoring/protection.
