Åbo Akademi University Research Stations of Husö and Korpoström
The Åbo Akademi University (ÅAU) is represented in FINMARI by its largest field station, Husö biological station (Husö) and Archipelago Research Station Korpoström. While Husö is located in the NW Åland Islands, in the least affected archipelago area of the Baltic Sea, Korpoström represents the outer Achipelago with human impact. Both stations serve as a centre for biological and ecological research, carrying out environmental monitoring and offering facilities for field courses, workshops and seminars.

The fields stations offer excellent facilities for field studies in combination with experimental research both in the field and laboratory. Biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in shallow coastal areas, and sediment dynamics are central research topics alongside with effect studies of human activities. Husö has a long tradition on participating in societal advisory boards and development of tools for decision making.
Husö is a partner of the national node of the Finnish marine stations within FINMARI (coordinated by TZS) in the EMBRC-ERIC, as well as a member of the MARS network.
