Husö Biological Station laboratory

The laboratory at the Husö BiologicalStation offers adequate instrumentation for basic chemical and biological research, including facilities for water analyses and microscopy, as well as genetic studies of aquatic organisms. The laboratory services include e.g. analyses of nutrients, chlorophyll, turbidity, oxygen.

Husö has indoor and outdoor experimental aquaria facilities with flow-through seawater, and possibility to temperature-regulated experiments in the indoor facilities.  Small motor boats (<6 m) and field gear are available for sampling and surveying of water, sediment, benthos, vegetation and fish in the coastal areas (<30 m depth).

Long-term monitoring data from the Åland archipelago are available on temperature, salinity, nutrients, chlorophyll, and benthic macrofauna. Additional long-term data ( e.g. water quality, benthich fauna, fish and human pressures) are available through the Åland Government.

More information on the laboratory and other research facilities at the Husö Biological station is on web pages , and the list of available  infrastructure.
