FINMARI
FINMARI is a distributed, multiplatform and multidisciplinary Research Infrastructure. It combines the major components of Finnish marine research community, and creates solid knowledge base for the protection of the Baltic Sea.
FINMARI is a strategic investment in the basis of marine research. It has been on the National Infrastructure Roadmap of the Research Council of Finland since 2014.
FINMARI has agility to respond broadly to the questions and challenges of the Baltic Sea: climate change, loss of biodiversity, pollution and eutrophication, green transition, blue economy, and marine safety. It covers the data production chain from samples to social services. FINMARI is a unique consortium on a European scale and its partners are widely networked.
Besides being a strong platform enabling excellent marine research, FINMARI partners are largely responsible for statutory monitoring of the EU directives in Finland, e.g., Marine Strategy Framework directive (MSFD), the Water Framework Directive (WFD), and the Habitats Directive.
FINMARI offers access to a wide range of marine research infrastructures and services. For inquiries for a specific resource, you can contact the person(s) specified on the respective page.
