Research Funding to the FINMARI 'family' from the Academy of Finland

Great news from the Academy of Finland:
Two research projects got funding for the next four years. Both were evaluated as outstanding! 

'PLASTER', led by Maiju Lehtiniemi focuses on the fate of weathered plastics and plastic additives in the northern Baltic Sea food web, and 'FASTVISION plus', led by Sanna Suikkanen, will use images of microscopic plankton provided by automated imaging instruments and train image recognition software for species identification using multimodal machine learning approaches.
