Doctoral dissertation on plankton imaging 20th of September 2024

Welcome to follow the doctoral defense of Kaisa Kraft on Friday 20th September at 13.15 (EET).
The opponent is Michael Brosnahan from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The title of the dissertation is High-throughput imaging of the Baltic Sea phytoplankton community with an emphasis on bloom-forming cyanobacteria. The online dissertation can be accessed here 10 days prior to the defense.The thesis deals with suitability and comparability of the automated imaging for Baltic Sea phytoplankton, and applied machine learning (CNN) for the automated identification of the taxa, useful methods for both research and monitoring purposes.
